Purpose Statement
The Auxiliary Society for Comox Valley Healthcare (Formerly St. Joseph’s
Hospital Auxiliary) was founded in 1914 to provide equipment, specialized
education for staff, and day to day patient comforts such as music and art
therapy, craft supplies, coffee, tea, goodies, Christmas stockings, and other
items.
Some areas of Healthcare that receive funding from us are North Island
Hospital Comox Valley, hospital equipment, patient comforts in the
Emergency Department, The Wellness Clinic, Psychiatry and the
Transitional Care Unit.
Funding for The Views in Providence include Music and Art Therapy, birthday flowers, special equipment and staff training, Christmas presents, and the summer and winter youth volunteer program. We also provide funding to Cumberland Lodge and Glacier View.
At present the proceeds from The Valley Gift Shop at Comox Valley
Hospital and the Auxiliary Thrift Shop at the old St. Joseph’s hospital (hospital now closed) provide most of our funding.
